The Prairie Park is a peaceful, beautiful and open green space in the wonderful neighborhood of Morgan Park in the 19th Ward in Chicago. Since 2016, the park has been owned by the Chicago Park District.
The Prairie Park Advisory Council (PAC) is a non-profit all volunteer group dedicated to enhancing the community use of the park.
As members of the Chicago Park District and affiliated with the Chicago Parks Foundation, as our fiscal partner, The Prairie PAC serves as an advocate and supporter for The Prairie Park located at 11625 S. Oakley Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60643. The Prairie PAC serves as the eyes, ears and even hands of the park.
The Prairie PAC Board and its Members are made up of people who live close by and use the park often for sports, exercise, leisure, entertainment and relaxation.
The Prairie PAC works closely with the Chicago Park District, Chicago Parks Foundation, local elected leaders, CAPS and other community organizations on any issues that arise at the park.
The Prairie PAC applies for funding available through grants for infrastructure improvements that are supported by the residents, including park safety, beautification, and retention of open space features.
Overall, The Prairie PAC wants to ensure that The Prairie Park evolves into a thriving community space preserving the peaceful, natural beauty in the city of Chicago.
Our members and volunteers provide the momentum that helps us affect the positive change we all want in our community. Thank you!
